GFC & the Bale Band-It had the privilege of hosting the 2012 Illinois Forage Expo on July 10th. The Forage Expo is sponsored by the Illinois Forage and Grassland Council and supported by the University of Illinois Extension, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Two Rivers RC&D.

This year’s event had an above average attendance of approx 200 to 250 in attendance. 20+ vendors with a wide range of products utilized both the indoor and outdoor booths. Quality Hay & Haylage Contest entries started off the day. Beautiful sunny weather canvased the hay fields for an ideal panorama of hay demonstrations including mowing, raking, and baling. Lunch was served by the Country Clovers 4-H group.

A variety of Educational Presentations were given on such topics as “Hay & Forage Sampling”, “Renovating Damaged Pastures”, “Weed Control in Pastures”, and “Dealing with Drought”.

A large portion of the attendees also toured the Bale Band-It Manufacturing facility.

Thank you to all who made the 2012 Illinois Forage Expo a success!
